The studies on marking trees by brown bear were conducted on north slope of West Sayan, in south-west part of Khakasiya in "Small Abakan" area of Khakasskiy state nature reserve. Five routs were examined with the general extent 30,5 km, where 15 marked trees were registered. The following conclusion can be done according the results - brown bear marking activity in Khakasiya is weakly developed. It appears in the most active way among certain animals as a response to marks, which were done by human beings. The largest trees are used for marking in usual situation, not necessarily which are grown near the trail, and mainly firs; there were no connection neither between marking and tree size nor between marking and its species.
