The role of Yu. V. Bondarev’s novel “Silence” in his literary evolution

The article focuses on analysis of “Silence”, a novel by Yu. V. Bondarev, which marks a historical epoch of the mid 20 th century while remaining vital for modern readers. In his novel Yu. V. Bondarev raises an eternal issue of man’s moral choice. The article considers “Silence” as a part of Yu. V. Bondarev’s literary works. The novel’s problems and conflicts are compared with those found in earlier war short stories and philosophic novels written by Yu. V. Bondarev from the second half of the 20th century till early 21st.
