About the metaphysical properties of the Bunin’s avenues (short stories "Dark Alleys")

Avenues in the short stories of Bunin Dark alleys are a metaphysical symbol of the Way, wich containes all forms of light and darkness, temporal and sacral, eternal. They represent the properties of the invisible world. We always interact with them, but rationally we don't realize it (only intuitively, subconsciously, more often with fear or horror). Characters move in avenues and experience extreme stress because of love, its transformations and substitutions.
