On the world experience of forest ownership

The article deals with the various forms of forest ownership in foreign countries. In accordance with the FAO global forest resources assessment 2010, the 80 % of the world's forests are publicly owned, 18 % of the forest area is privately owned, and 2 % of the world's forests are related to other types of property. Observed that, in 1990, a trend growth of forest area, which is in private ownership. Private forest area occurs mainly by plantations. Natural forests, usually in private ownership is not transferred. However, there are significant differences between regions. Most countries legislated various types of ownership of forest land: State, private and municipal (public) property. Analysis of forest legislation of foreign countries has revealed that one of the main responsibilities of forest owners is reforestation. In addition, considered such aspects of forest management in privately owned forests, as: the protection of forests against fires, logging, organization of specially protected natural territories, etc.
