On the monitoring of underflooding of cities and rural settlements on the example of a five-floor brick building

Flooding by underground waters of a five-floor brick building and the adjacent territory became a subject for consideration. Engineering-geological and engineering and geophysical researches, measurement works and inspections were carried out. Using the results of measurements of level of ground waters and magnitude of water body maps of hydroisobaths and isopachytes of the magnitudes of the first and the second water bodies made, which reflected the direction of the movement of ground waters. The new term “isopachytes” was proposed which denotes the magnitude of water-saturated layer of the technogenic water body formed in the territory of a city or a rural settlement under the conditions of flooding by underground waters. The monitoring technique for a solution of the problem of flooding providing drawing up a system of two equations with twounknown quantities of k and µ was offered. Solving the said system it is possible to find required filtration parameters. Their accurately calculated quantities will allow to design a protective drainage reasonably.
