On the need for fundamental research of the challenges in crime detection

Introduction: the author considers the concept of crime detection. Materials and Methods: the normative legal basis of the study were certain provisions of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, criminal, the criminal procedure and investigative legislation. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study was the work of scientists - specialists in criminology, criminal procedure and the theory of investigative activities. The official statistical data of the Main Informational and Analytical Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and other information on the results of the work of Russian law enforcement agencies in solving crimes were used. A methodological approach based on various scientific methods has been developed: dialectics and formal logic, information, management, legal regulation, system and situational analysis, as well as sociological methods. The theoretical and methodological basis for the study was the work of scientists - specialists in the area of criminology, criminal procedure and the theory of investigative activities. The literature review includes regulatory legal acts of the federal level, scientific literature, as well as materials of periodicals. Results: the conceptual foundations of the theory of crime detection are considered. Discussion and Conclusions: a new legal and scientific approach to the term "crime detection" can become an essential step in the formation of the conceptual foundations of criminalistic teaching on countering the disclosure and investigation of crimes and measures to neutralize it.
