Motivation behind the development of special - purpose spectrophotometers for analytical chemistry

The paper gives a motivation for developing low-cost, easy to use UV and IR spectrophotometers around a unified basic model. The spectrophotometers are designed for routine analyses in industrial laboratories, at medical institutions, environmental control agencies, etc. Technical specifications for the spectrophotometers and basic circuit diagrams are given.
