Бесплатный доступ

The results of an express survey of full-time undergraduate and graduate students studying in the field of Library and Information Activities at the Moscow State Institute of Culture and the Moscow State Linguistic University, conducted by the author in the spring of 2024, in order to clarify their professional involvement, are presented. The data obtained are compared with a large-scale career guidance study of the Russian State Library for Youth (2022), generalizing conclusions are made regarding the negative trends of orientation to work in the library for applicants and their graduates entering specialized higher education institutions. The necessity of active secondary professional orientation of students in the process of their education, the development of a dual format of knowledge presentation with an emphasis on applied classes based on libraries is substantiated. Some suggestions on the organization of the educational process and the admission campaign are formulated.
