The article is devoted to two characters of A. P. Chekhovʼs play “Three Sisters ,ˮ who complete the list of actors in it the watchman of the zemstvo council Ferapont and the nurse Anfisa and their role in the plot, the system of images of the play and the place in its “resonating space ,ˮ a characteristic feature of which, as the researchers note, is roll call, repetitions themes and motives. In this sense, Chekhovʼs plays are likened to poetic works. Chekhov lacks a clear line between the main and secondary characters: each is important in the context of the whole. The analysis shows that Ferapont and Anfisa turn out to be closely connected with her main cross cutting motives home, family, happiness, unfulfilled hopes (“to Moscow, to Moscow, to Moscow!ˮ), contributing to their deepening and expansion.
