The information presented outlines the role and meaning of the interdisciplinary institution that regulates the usage of electronic information technologies in the procedural law of Russia. The analysis was performed of the legislation covering the electronic information technologies usage in the criminal court proceedings. The changes and amendments introduced by the Russian legislator into the RF Criminal Procedural Code are conditioned by problems and difficulties met in investigation and court practice. The circumstance is emphasized that unlike other processes, the criminal court proceedings use electronic information technologies not just in the court activities but also in the pre-trial proceedings. A conclusion is made about the possible future development and improvement of the of the criminal procedural legislation regulating the use of the electronic information technologies in this sphere of court proceedings.
