On the role of structural analysis of the dynamics of gross regional product in the development of the region

The article provides a brief review of publications devoted to the study of the problems of industrial diversification, and reveals insufficient attention to substantiating the criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of the processes of industrial diversification of the economy. The purpose of the study is to identify the relationship between production and structural processes in the regional economy, the structure of the regional economy and the structure of the gross regional product (GRP) by income. The novelty of our approach is to use for assessing the effect of industrial diversification and specialization in the region, along with the traditional index (GRP) specific indicators of the gross profit and mixed income, wage and tax component on the ruble of GRP. The study was based on the statistical reports of the Volga and Ural Federal districts for the period 2005-2017. Its results showed the feasibility of using the proposed approach to improve the effectiveness of strategic planning in Russian regions by identifying priority areas of economic development that create the greatest socio-economic effect and have the most significant impact on the level of wages and tax revenues.
