Status and prospects of archaeological higher education in Russia in the transition to bachelor / master system

Archaeological education is currently at the initial stage of a long process of creating a unified system of qualifications within the European Community. The main purpose of these changes is the unified diploma that is recognized in all countries. However, in this way, there are serious obstacles and challenges as the lack of bachelor of archaeology in some countries, including Russia, as well as visible disparities within the structure to be established for students from the different ways to organize field studies, technical equipment and unequal level lecture courses. The problem of transition of Russian universities in the tiered system of training - one of the most urgent in the field of higher education. In this paper, the authors attempted to provide information on the variety of options for training in the field of archaeology as an example of European and Russian experience.
