Ecosystems of high latitudes are the most vulnerable and sensitive to global warming. Climate change causes permafrost thawing which leads to substantial changes in many components of landscape and soil cover, as well. We identified the structural features and properties of tundra permafrost-affected soils and underlying deposits as an integrated soil-geocryological complex. An assessment of the current state of this complex is given in terms of present and projected changes in climate.
