This study generalizes the experience of applying an extract of plant-based object to thin-layer chromatography plates using an aerograph to obtain a starting zone. The features of this technique, its advantages and disadvantages are described. The aerograph provides means for the achievement of starting zones of small diameter and uniform density of the applied substance. Satisfactory results are achieved by the selection of the operating modes of the devices used for the sample preparation: the temperature of the plate heating table, the distance from the needle protection cap and the aerograph nozzle to the plate, the pressure created by the air compressor and other factors. The experience attests that this technique can be successfully used to solve some analytical challenges.
