Formation of professional musical art in Soviet Karelia in the 1930s

The process of professional development of musical art in Karelia has been studied in close connection with the socio-economic and political transformations of the 1930s. The importance of new communications for the development of art has been shown. The process of establishment of the first music ensembles in Karelia and the role of migrants in their activity have been studied. The author comes to a conclusion that the establishment of professional art required both creative tension of the elite and intensification of spiritual strength of the whole regional comunity.
