On 14 «shinshilla» rabbits (28 eyes) were investigated clinical parameters and histological changes of the eye after intravitreal implantation of the cross-linkable modified poly(vinyl alcohol), as drug-releasing implants. In 3-10th day after introduction of polymer to experimental animals the attributes of inflammatory reaction from an iris, ciliar bodies and retinas were marked. Parameters of a retinogram also specify to toxic influence of polymer on the retina and choroidal microcirculation. Results of histological research supplement the clinico-functional observations and have shown toxicity of the polymer for internal structures of eyeglobe.
