About interdependency of the main productivity components in different strawberry cultivars

Бесплатный доступ

The influence of mean branch crown number per plant, flower and fruit number per unit of row area (1 m), commercial fruit set percentage, average berry weight, fruit number and weight per branch crown on the yield capacity in strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) for the first and second years of fruiting was studied. It was stated that fruit number per unit of row area, yield per branch crown, and marketable fruit set percentage had a strong positive influence on the first year productivity; the second year productivity was influenced positively as strongly as before by the same indices plus flower number per unit of row area. Only the cultivars having either medium flower number and large berries or large flower number at smaller berries resulted in high yields during the first year fruiting. The second year productivity was the higher the more both flower number per unit of row area and average berry weight were. Optimum flower number per unit of row area and yield per branch crown leading to a maximum level of productivity, especially cumulatively over two years, have been determined for the first year of fruiting.
