The article suggests - in cases of established unauthorized interference in the operation of an electric energy metering device - new methods of protecting the rights of Consumers who have allowed unaccounted consumption of electric energy in court proceedings. An indisputable novelty is a fresh look at the legal nature of compensation for the volume (capacity) of unaccounted electricity consumption as actual losses and settlement penalty, as well as new methods proposed by the author of the article that were not previously used in court disputes for determining actual losses of Suppliers in case of unaccounted electricity consumption and settlement penalty. Modern methods of civil legislation, which allow to adjust the amount of the penalty to the sizes established by law, allow determining the amount of legitimate compensation for real losses of the Electricity Supplier, which is subject to recovery from the Consumer in case of unaccounted electricity consumption.
Unaccounted-for electricity consumption, compensation for losses, legal nature, reduction of the penalty, actual losses of electricity suppliers
