On identification of intelligentsia (on materials of the Republic of Buryatia)

This article considers the issues of identification and self-identification of intelligentsia in the conditions of social and economic transformations of the late XX and the early XXI centuries. Basing on the essential features of intelligentsia, the author assesses the status of this social group in main areas of society life and its adaptation to the new conditions. In the article the data of sociological surveys conducted in Buryatia have been used.
