About instinctive forms of maternal behavior, ensured maintenance of saiga population

On the ground of own observations and the data of literature analysis the author describes some examples of instinctive behavior in saiga of European natural population and open-air cage group: the active licking of newborn, the desire for ensure the sucking acts for own and alien newborns, the eating behavior of newborn at the first minutes and hours of their life, the sound communication between females and their young, the play activity of young animals. The advantages are discussed, which the instinctive maternal behavior gives to the species.
