About artificial intelligence in information library practice: formation, status and directions of development

The article examines the development of technologies identified within the framework of the concept of "artificial intelligence", starting from the creation of the first electromechanical device by Alan Turing in 1940 and up to the present day. Different approaches to defining the definition of "artificial intelligence" are analyzed, and it is noted that no precise, generally accepted definition has yet been formed. Artificial intelligence is a product of the computer world, based on the capabilities of a computer, it is the ability of a digital computer or a computer-controlled robot to perform tasks usually associated with intelligent beings. The term is often used in projects for the development of systems endowed with intellectual processes characteristic of humans, such as the ability to reason, generalize, or learn from past experience. Special attention is paid to the use of technologies positioned as artificial intelligence technologies in the library and information sphere.
