On the use of information and communication technology in the Bavarian State Library

The article discusses the experience of the Bavarian state library, considered the largest scientific library of a world level, the second largest scientific universal library in Germany and a member of the Bavarian library network, the development and use of modern information and communication technologies in the diverse activities of the library. Initiated by the Bavarian state library web-scale digitisation projects, cataloguing, long term archiving, the creation of specialized portals, the establishment of the Munich center for digitization, “Virtual library of Bavaria” other projects based on the use of information technologies aimed at broadening the traditional information and communication services innovation.
