The paper deals with the first printing house established by the Black Sea Military Chancellery in the city of Ekaterinodar. Archival records on the subject matter are of strong interest to historical science since they allow one to expand and supplement the available information on the creation of the management system of the Black Sea Cossack Host in the first half of the 19th century and education development on the southern outskirts of the Russian Empire. There are documents in the State Archives of the Krasnodar Territory that describe the pioneer educational activity of such prominent public figures as Ataman G.K. Matveev, Archpriest of the Black Sea Cossack Host and educator K.V. Rossinsky, Lieutenant Colonel Ya.G. Kukharenko. The research notes the challenges faced by the Black Sea Military Chancellery in the first decades of the 19th century and the local authorities’ measures to overcome them. The author concluded that the military printing house played a major role in records management and the promotion of education among the Cossacks.
