The need to strengthen dairy cattle breeding feed base has been substantiated. The basic requirements for its organization are indicated and the distinctive features of the formation in the Krasnodar Territory are revealed. The structure of sown areas of forage crops, their yield and gross harvest in the region are analyzed. The causes of changes in the production volumes of growing individual forage crops and their groups during the period under review are determined. Reducing feed losses during harvesting, storage and usage is considered important. The steady growth trend of milk yields of cows in 2010–2017 was revealed at an average rate of 240.1 kg / head or by 3.9 % per year. The dynamics of the average annual feed consumption per cow in the agricultural organizations of the region and the proportion of concentrates in the feeding structure were studied. A correlation-regression analysis revealed the presence of a fairly close statistically significant relationship between the milk productivity of cows and feed consumption per head, the variation of which explained 52.3 % of differences in average annual milk yield. The calculation of the payback of feed proceeds from the sale of milk was made, calculated in the prices of the base year, which allows for the comparability of the results when assessing the effectiveness of the food supply in dynamics. Priorities for improving the dairy cattle feed base were outlined.
