The study and development of anti-epidemic measures in various regions of the country is an important step in the fight against carriers of infectious animal diseases. Outbreaks of lumpy dermatitis caused by blood-sucking insects and midges have been repeatedly recorded in the Pavlodar region of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the border regions of the Russian Federation. A difficult entomological situation was noted in 2016, which necessitated the application of anti-epizootic measures using the biological preparation Bacticide. Entomological monitoring was carried out in the floodplain reservoirs of the Irtysh River in the Pavlodar region of the Republic of Kazakhstan from May to September 2017, laboratory studies were carried out on the basis of the Republican State Enterprise in the scientific and practical center for sanitary and epidemiological expertise and monitoring in Pavlodar. The authors used generally accepted methods for recording and collecting larvae of blood-sucking insects, statistical processing of the data obtained was performed by the Fisher-Student method of variation statistics. In the intrazonal landscape of the Irtysh River, 8 species of blood-sucking insects were identified, which are confined to the main watercourses and the steppe zone and are ecologically plastic. The dominant species are Odagmia ornata, Simulium longipalpe, Wilhelmia equina, Byssodon maculatus, Boopthora erythrocephala. The studies carried out made it possible to establish that intense daily activity and attacks of midges and mosquitoes were noted at night during warm weather and good moonlight. The analysis of disinfestation of the water surface in the districts of Aksu, the suburbs of Pavlodar and coastal areas of settlements showed a different degree of effectiveness of treatments with the Bacticide preparation. It has been established that in order to achieve the effectiveness of pest control measures, it is necessary to carry out treatments when the river enters the channel, since under these conditions it is possible to achieve the required concentration of the preparation. Local application of the Bacticide preparation during the treatment of the water surface confirms the highest activity of its action, which averages 80-95%.
