About desertification in the south of Russia

This article discusses the definition of desertification, the historical features of its development, modern methods of identifying and mapping its manifestations with the use of remote sensing data of the Earth, the spatial distribution of degradation processes in the south of the European part of Russia. The main consequences of desertification and the necessary actions to combat it, large-scale state-level programs to combat desertification are listed.
