To supply the population with high quality drinking water is one of the main social and sanitary problems. A comprehensive study has been done in an oil extraction area to focus on the quality of underground water used for drinking and domestic purposes. The chemical analysis revealed the main polluting components in the underground water to be oil derivatives, with levels 2-4 times higher than the allowed values. This paper highlights the severity of the underground water pollution with oil derivatives and the dynamics of change in polluted spots size.
