Ensuring food security in the regions of the Russian Federation

The article examines the national situation in Russia related to food security. Food security in every corner of our country can be viewed as a structural part of national food security. The level of the nation’s health and the well-being of its citizens depend on its state. The main definitions were revealed, a brief content, goals and objectives of such an important document of the country as the Food Security Doctrine were considered. To analyze the state of food security in the regions of Russia, the Sverdlovsk region was selected. The work analyzed the main indicators of food self-sufficiency of this constituent entity of the Russian Federation. In the subject of the Russian Federation under consideration, there is an insufficient consumption of food products. At the same time, this deviation still varies within the acceptable range and, accordingly, does not pose a threat to food security and the local population. The author of the article identified the existing threats and deficiencies in food security of this constituent entity of the Russian Federation and developed a list of recommendations. It is proposed to neutralize threats to food independence of the Sverdlovsk region through the provision of support from the state and representatives of regional authorities, the expansion of farms, and support for SMEs specializing in food.
