Based on official statistics, the article analyzes the patterns and development trends of mandatory pension insurance in terms of old-age insurance pensions in Russia. The main problems and shortcomings that are characteristic of the entire system of compulsory pension insurance, the social effect of amendments to the legislation introduced on January 1, 2019, are considered, an attempt is made to identify possible solutions.
