Summary of Small Business Development Directions in Region and Their Features

The study examines the role of smallscale entrepreneurship in the regional economy and its socioeconomic significance. Smallscale enterprises exert notable quantitative and qualitative influence on balanced socioeconomic development at both regional and national levels, necessitating the formulation of effective measures to enhance their performance. Existing directions for the development of regional smallscale entrepreneurship are extensive in both structure and content, which requires their synthesis and generalization. Such a synthesis is essential to evaluate the extent to which these directions correspond to prevailing regional development trends. The aim of the study is to develop a classification of the directions for the development of regional smallscale entrepreneurship based on a review and systematization of domestic and foreign literature. In accordance with this aim, the following tasks are identified: to examine how directions and specific features of smallscale entrepreneurship development are represented in the works of domestic and international scholars and practitioners; to synthesize the analyzed data; and to determine the grounds for classifying the directions of smallscale entrepreneurship development. The subject of the study is analyzed across four temporal intervals: 2018–2019; 2020–2021; 2022–2023; and 2024–2025.
