Defense of the borders of Novgorod the great in the context of relations between Moscow and Tver in the late 13th century - the early 14th century

The article is devoted to the defense of the northern territories of Novgorod the Great at the turn of the XIII and XIV centuries. The author analyzes the main characteristics of governing Novgorod by Moscow and Tver princes, and reveals why the Novgorod people became oppositional to Grand Duke Mikhail and his descendants. He argues that despite some groups in Novgorod were supporting Tver princes, Mikhail of Tver could not get their support in his struggle against the Moscow Princes.
