The paper is a preliminary publication of Archaic period fortifications. Theywere discovered in Phanagoria during archaeological excavations in the historical coreof the city. The city walls were built soon after the apoikia had been founded (530-520-sBC) and were destroyed by fire at the turn of the second quarter of the 5th century BC.
