Rationale for partition of concepts intellectual potential and intellectual capital in modern activity of enterprises

The analysis of scientific works on the terminology of the concepts of the intellectual potential of an enterprise and its intellectual capital has shown the existence of a significant number of definitions of these concepts by various economists. This circumstance predetermined the need to clarify the wording of the concepts studied and the relevance of the research topic. The authors of the article approached the issue under study from the standpoint of determining the structural components in relation to the modern realities of organizing the production activities of enterprises. This made it possible to unequivocally determine that the concept of intellectual potential is much broader than the concept of intellectual capital, which, moreover, is its defining structural component. In addition, the article substantiates the need to include in the structure of the studied concepts of new structural components. The main objective of this study is to justify the need to separate the concepts of intellectual potential and intellectual capital based on an analysis of their structural components. As the main methods, the study used a comprehensive analysis, synthesis and systematization of the approaches used, identifying and justifying the structural components. The main result of the study is to clarify the definitions for the concepts of intellectual potential and intellectual capital, as well as the justification of their structural components in relation to modern conditions for the implementation of production activities of enterprises. In addition, the necessity of including new components in the structure of the studied concepts is substantiated.
