Justification of the strategic importance of the northern sea route by analyzing the logistics and geopolitical aspects of its future operation

The article describes the problems of development of the Northern sea route, and focuses on the prospects of using the Northern sea route. The current situation is analyzed taking into account climate, trade changes and the military significance of the Northern sea route. The advantage of sea transport in comparison with other types of transport is considered. The functions of port facilities are highlighted. It is determined which water area is designated by the term «Northern sea route». It was noted that the strategic importance of the Northern sea route is not only in the development of international trade. In view of claims to the Arctic territories by other States, this route, in addition to economic, has also a significant military significance. Therefore, in any case, our state needs to develop the infrastructure of Northern ports and build icebreaker-class vessels in order to maintain its influence in the Arctic region in the future.
