Manufacturing industry of the Tuvan People's Republic. From handicraft production into industrial

The article deals with the period in the history of the Tuvan People’s Republic - from 1921 to 1944 - when there was a transition from handicraft to industrial production and the first state-owned industrial enterprises appeared. The author analyzes the situation in the Tuvan People’s Republic in the production sphere before the emergence of the manufacturing industry on its territory. On the basis of archival materials the information on the new industrial constructionand the first industrial enterprisesin the Tuvan People’s Republic was studied. In detail the question regarding productive capacity of the first processing industries which in the beginning supplied the domestic needs of the Republic was considered. Also, the data on priority issues relating to the energy base of the plants, and availability of the labor force that occurred in the construction of enterprises and their functioning is given in the work. The role of the Soviet Union in the creation of the state industry of the Tuvan People’s Republic and the importance of assistance provided to them in the training of national personnel is noted.
