The image of an intellectual hero in M. A. Bulgakov’s series of short stories “A young doctor’s notebook”

The article is devoted to the research of an intellectual hero’s image in the series of short stories “A young doctor’s notebook” by M. A. Bulgakov. These series were inspired by the writer’s own experience while working as a country doctor in Nikolskoe. The image of the main hero, who is a young doctor, is interpreted in the context of the life’s harsh, historical realities. However, the main hero succeeded in growing up both professionally and personally. He finally realizes his role in society and history, becoming aware that he is an integral part of life.
