The article examines the problem of perception of the concept of Christian family by various groups of the intelligentsia within the framework of the discussion «About marriage» at meetings of the Petersburg кeligious and зhilosophical assemblies. Petersburg religious and philosophical assemblies is a cycle of meetings that took place in November 1901 - April 1903. According to the plan of the organizers, the meetings were to promote the rapprochement of the intelligentsia and the church. The transcripts of the meetings have been published in the form of Notes of Petersburg religious and philosophical assemblies. Family issues were discussed at 12-16 meetings devoted to marriage. The main issues of the meetings were two problems: what is the christian family, and what is the role of the Christian church in family life in the Russian Empire at the turn of the XIX - XX centuries. In this article, the author identifies and analyzes three main points of view of the participants in the meetings on the formulated problems: the Russian Orthodox Church, the opponent of the church V.V. Rozanov and a group of intellectuals who are neutral towards the church. As a result of the cycle of meetings, no common point of view was formed, all participants in the discussion remained in their positions regarding the main problems. However, several points were found where the opinions of the groups converged, and this served as the beginning of a dialogue between the church and the intelligentsia on the family issue.
