This article is about the genesis and specifics of V. Rasputin's creation, in regard to the righteous person, who is one of the key images of Russian village prose from 1960 to 1970. This type of righteous person, is based on three various traditions. The first is, Russian classical literature of the later part of the nineteenth century, the second is Christian hagiography and third is folklore. The spiritual feat of the righteous person in village prose, has no actual religious aims, however it is based on well-known hagiographical achetypes, such as: wise acceptance of death, selfless service to others and asceticism. V.Rasputin's characterization combines a number of original folkloric-mythological motives with the figure of a righteous person.
