The formation and development of the Yakut regional police department (1868 -1917)

Introduction: basing on the archive materials the paper describes the formation and development of the police board of Yakutia of presoviet period. Results: regional characteristics and various functions of police structures occasionally substituting and controlling local governments. Close cooperation of district Police Authority and state government for politics of autocracy in the domestic outskirts is shown. Discussion and Conclusions: business correspondence of district police offices of Yakutia have substantial informational potential and are able to recreate an aggregate picture of the life of the northern society of the second half of XIX beginning of XX century.
