Establishment and activities of the Vologda writers’ organization in the 1950s – 1960s

The article deals with the establishment history of the Vologda Writers’ Organization. It covers the period of the 1950s – 1960s. It provides the information on the writers who contributed to the development of literature forces in Vologda, their creative and social activities, the themes of Vologda writers, the authorities’ support provided for establishing the branch of the Writers’ Union. The authorcomes to the conclusion that in their literary works the writers preferred to explore the themes of collective farm villages and working class labour.
