The present article studies the Russian and foreign experience of the formation and development of educational processes, provides the proofs for dialectical interdependence of upbringing and education and scientific-based definitions of the given concepts. It focuses on the fundamental educational principles, according to which it is most appropriate to modernize the educational process in actual conditions. The author pays a special attention to the principle of historical continuity, including the theory and practice of the best achievements of pedagogical activity that have taken place since Antiquity and reflects the development of educational processes in Russia in particular, including the Soviet period of its history. The article defines the principle of state determination providing the arguments for that the education process should be a national matter. At the same time, a so-called universal market-based approach to education presented as a service provision is not appropriate from the point of view of realization of Russia's national interests in modern conditions. It is especially evident in the process of transition from a unipolar to a multipolar world order, where each state objectively builds its educational policy based primarily on its own traditional values and national interests. The article considers the principle of goal setting talking about what to teach, how to teach and who should carry out such activities first? Therefore, the article focuses attention on the revival of humanistic traditions, which a priori need to be used in the context of the modern scientific and technological revolution. Special accent is made to the issue related to the need in restoring the dominance of spiritual and moral priorities and traditions in all spheres of human relations.
