Educational law as a discipline

In the conditions of reforming the educational system and adopting the new educational standards, it is important to create a new curriculum which contains its «variable part» of educational disciplines that allow students to fully master the competencies provided by the standard. The article considers one of the possible approaches to the improvement of the quality of legal and pedagogical education, taking into account the competence approach provided by the educational standards of higher education. It is proposed to strengthen the study of the legal regulation of the educational process by introducing a new educational discipline in the law and pedagogical universities of the Russian Federation. It should be «Educational Law». The general characteristic of the system of this discipline consist of three interrelated blocks, its subject, purpose and tasks are determined. This discipline has been taught at Ulyanovsk State Pedagogical University named after I.N. Ulyanov since 2016.
