Images of cultural universals in the structure of the folk worldview (reconstruction based on traditional folk art culture of Belgorod region)

The study considers the value-based visual foundations of folk art culture in the South of Russia from the standpoint of the images of regional ethnocultural archetypes. The emphasis is placed on people’s understanding of nature and artistic message to the folk worldview model, the relevance of preserving the cultural ecosystem under pressure from opposing trends. The authors reveal the identification methods and semantic reconstruction of a self-sufficient system of universals in ethnic culture and present the empirical material of the study. A brief presentation of the Belgorod folk art culture explains the specific nature of the ornamental systems developed. By a case study of Belgorod region and its peculiarities, the paper determines the images of valuable cultural universals tantamount to archetypes. Their philosophical understanding, conscious creative use in vestimentary culture and design, further semantic reconstruction of traditional folk ornamental patterns become possible. The authors propose the results-based development of the analytical framework for the study of ethnic artistic experience in line with philosophical and cultural reflection.
