Images of Russia in China (according to the survey in Guangzhou city)

The article examines the current image of Russia in the southernpart of China, according to their socio — economic and culturalcharacteristics differ from the northern Chinese provinces. First, residents of the southern provinces of China have less experiencewith the Russians. Second, historically Southerners are morefocused on relations with the West than with Russia. AmongSoutherners characteristics such as Russian«military threat», «underdevelopment», «Putin is a strong leader» are dominated. Thus,this study is an important element that allows a comparative analysis of the existing images ofRussia in China. This article is basedon the materials collected by the author in a survey among residents of Guangzhou city in the summer of 2014.
