The life cycle rites as an algorithm of overcoming of critical situations

The article shows the value of the life cycle rites in overcoming of critical situations by a person and an ethnos. The scientific relevance of the research consists in the culturological analysis of these rites, which allows the author to reveal their sociocultural value. The main functions of the life cycle rites are resistance to fear of the unknown that is inherent in facts and fiction, strengthening of individual and collective (ethnic) consciousness. The material of the paper may be useful in development and improvement of various special courses on the theory and history of culture.
