Association of People's lecturing of Vladivostok and I. I. Makovskiy, the founder of association

Butyrin (Pushkins museum of Far Eastern National Technical University, Vladivostok). The paper is devoted to the life and works of I.I. Makovskiy. Ignatiy Iosifovich Makovskiy the city's mayor of Vladivostok in 1885-1888. I.I. Makovskiy governed this city on the edge of the Russian Empire for more than three years although this period was interrupted several times. He was known for common sense and fairness and respected by people of all walks of life. He set up a Association of people's lecturing in 1888, devoted their lives to teaching, social activities and people. I.I. Makovskiy makes every effort for raise the standard of welfare and culture оf Vladivostok.
