General information on the management of the military commandant Verkhneudinsk transboundary fortress

On the basis of unpublished archival sources and published legislative acts, memoirs of contemporaries considered general questions about the management of the commandant of Verkhneudinsk. The author summarizes the disparate known at this time and the newly obtained information about the commandant, their competence and functions. In particular, it provides information about the first commandant, since his appointment, and subsequently succeeded by his officials. The author raises questions that characterize the personal qualities, moral character of military commanders. The greatest attention is paid to fix the conflict between the commander and the provincial warlord about the subordination of the city police, the cause of which, in my opinion, was the imperfection of the legislation and the lack of legal order authorizes such cases.
