The circumstances of the occurrence and activity of the “orthodox party” in the 1820s

The article considers the causes of the occurrence of the so-called “orthodox party” in the first quarter of the 19th century, the members of which achieved the prohibition of Masonic lodges, the shutdown of the Bible Society, the prohibition of the dissemination of Western mystics' works, and elimination of the Ministry for Religious Affairs and Public Education in the Russian Empire in the 1820s.
