Review of automation equipment for 6-20/0.4 kV transformer substations and block diagram of a digital transformer substation

The development of digitalization and automation of rural electrical networks requires special attention to ensuring the functionality of 6-20/0.4 kV transformer substations. There are more than 475 thousand such transformer substations in the distribution network complex. Recently, a large amount of equipment has appeared to ensure observability in electrical networks of 0.4-20 kV. The article provides an overview of the equipment presented on the Russian market for automation of 6-20/0.4 kV transformer substations. The promising functions of a 6-20/0.4 kV digital transformer substation are described. It was concluded that the equipment on the market does not provide most of the functions necessary to implement a 6-20/0.4 kV digital transformer substation. A conceptual block diagram of a 6-20/0.4 kV digital transformer substation is proposed and a brief description of its operation is given.
