Environmental protection requirements determine the relevance of determining NOX emissions from turbomachines in real time. This article provides a review of the literature on calculation methods for continuous determination of NOX emissions in gas turbine engine. It has been established that in the world, the determination of NOX emissions by mathematical models has been used in gas turbine units since 1990. When operating aircraft engines, NOX calculation technologies in flight are not yet used. However, due to the ever-tightening ICAO requirements, such a need may arise in the next decade. Three types of mathematical models are used to monitor emissions - fundamental models based on basic physical laws and chemical kinetics, as well as neural network and statistical models. The article examines the most significant works in the three specified areas, and also assesses the advantages and disadvantages of calculation methods for determining NOX, analyzes the applicability of these methods and determines the main possible directions for the development of methods for assessing emissions of harmful substances in real time, and proposes the most effective technologies for use in gas turbine power engineering and aircraft engine manufacturing in the Russian Federation.
